6000' Vertical Work Weekend

So all the lakes in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness you really have to work at to get to. There are less lakes than the Inyo, and people who want to go to them are either determined, or have pack animals!  We wished we had a pack llama named ... Edgar... (I just picked his name just now) to haul our tools.

Either way, there's a lot of fishing in the CI, but a lot of areas in the Southern Region that are protected for two trout species.  The Lahontan Cutthroat Trout and the Paiute Cutthroat Trout.  Where we went hiking was in the border area where you couldn't fish, to where you can.  Tamarack Lake outlet North is fishable.
Sarah and I added it up... but our work week of 4 days was a lot of up.  But we hiked Mt. Rose (2300') on Friday.

The flowers were growing that way
We then did a big loop from Corral Valley through Coyote Valley to Upper Fish Valley.  Then up to Long Valley and back out over 2 days.

Why hello Sierra Juniper
Coyote Valley is down there
Saturday was  at least 1000' vertical. Sunday up to Tamarack Lake was about 1500'.  Monday was back up "Driveway Trail" to the Corral Valley trailhead again which including part of the trail before the Never Ending Hill was about 1000'.
Tamarack Lake. Carson Iceberg Wilderness.  Fishable. But no one there!

Commissioners Camp. Formerly Governor's Camp because Jerry Brown liked it. Fully decked out campsite with toilet!

Lower Fish Valley/Long Valley area at dusk. Wish the group camping there offered us dinner. They had coolers!

And I know those don't add up to 1000' but when you consider a bunch of the uphills that aren't major and spread along... it was totally 6000'.  Don't argue with me.

Our campsite
Tamarack Lake had a rope swing.  I just jumped in.  But the rope swing wasn't there last week when Nathalie went.  So I should've used it, but at work we are all about safety... and well... I'd have to hike the longest 1.3 miles to get back to that rope swing.

If I go again, I'll be off the clock.

Halfway up Never Ending Hill... or is it?
